Viking pirchase

Need some info on the differences with the Viking & Super Vikings. Looking for good commuter aircraft. I am familiar with & prefer Lycoming 540. Any info would be appreciated. Any good / bad years? What is the useful load & cruise speed. I am in central/northern California. Mostly stay in the valley, maybe some trips across the sierras.
