Project #4

New member
Hey folks. My restoration of my 14-13-2 is going to be a real challenge for me and I will need input. With this in mind I hope you will be able to see the starting point of my project #4 on flickr. I have arrainged to rent a shared hanger here in Tehachapi, Ca (KTSP) for $275 per month and hope to have a finished flying machine by spring time. I've never done flickr B4 and I hope my efforts are justified.

Please ask me about my Ercoupe restoration or the Hiller Hornet's that I did 25 years ago.....

Jonathan, You're funny!

I looked closely and pictures showing very high speed fly-by you can see the fabric caving in on top side of the fuselage just behind the cabin, near the top longeron. Shows you the effect of aerodynamic forces on a structure. Weird!

Funny how the small imperfections we see are seldom noted by others, Alain. Well...I've seen ungodly numbers of RV owner/builders pour over each example's vertical stabilizer faring...something I'd never paid much attention to. RVs are great airplanes but not interesting ones.

In the case of your Cruisair, one shining example among a troubled fleet has more sheer emotional satisfaction than you might imagine. No airplane is perfect, of course, and only a few are dumb enough to want a show airplane. That light is too damned bright and judgement too harsh. Plus, where to you go from there is folks hand you trophies?

Some aircraft are meant to simply bring us joy when we behold them, without pretense. Man, you does that, Alain :)

Thanks Jonathan.
I was looking for a familly plane when I bought this one. Criteria were: fabric, taildragger, old classic, and skis. Those last ones were not mandatory but look at the TC, it shows you which one to put on. I will notput it on skis. Too hard on a bird. I have lots of hours of ski flying. I know.

I first saw a nice Piper Pacer when I was shopping on Barnstormers in summer 2005. My wife said I would look like driving an old 1970 Plymouth Valiant in this bird...This was my first car I paid 45.00$ at 16 in 79. Well with the souvenir I had from the old valiant, I went for the Vette. But I did not knew back then that it would pull that much attention. Millions thanks to my wife.

I saw quite a few other Bellancas on internet. Not many don't look good. Most are nice and different. It's a easy airframe to stripe and paint to a nice scheme.
