Super Viking velocity

Hello all,

I do not actually own a Viking, but have a friend who lets me fly his for very cheap (he is getting old and cannot fly it anymore). I have a question about the speed that the plane should be flying. First off, I believe the Viking I am flying is a 1972, but I know for a fact that it is mid seventies (I may be a bit off on the year but the range is '72 to '78). Also, I am not sure about this as well, but I believe it has the Lyc engine (I will try and find out for sure tomorrow). Anyways, when I fly the plane, the max ground speed that I can get out of it at any alt is about 150mph without any wind. Usually I cannot keep this speed for very long as it fluctuates from 145 to 150. Also, when I get up to altitude, somewhere around 10k ft, the max speed I get is about 110 to 120mph. I have heard that I should be getting around 180 to 190 out of this plane. So, I am wondering if anyone hear knows why.

The annual was just done on the plane and everything checked out as fine. Also, we just cleaned all the spark plugs off, thinking that may have been what was causing it-- the spark plugs were not causing it.

ok so here is what I found out. It is a 1975 and it is the Continental engine. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

one other thing that I have noticed is that during the engine run-up, when I am testing the magnitos, the RPM's are several hundred higher for the right magnito than for the left magnito.
 
no matter the altitude that is the best ground speed i can get. so, lets say 5k feet, with 24mp and 24rpm. the fastest i can get it to go is about 140 to 150 (with a good wind). i would say i usually average 135.
 
That doesn't make sense. IAS changes with altitude. What is the TAS?
Is the tac correct?
Are the gear doors staying closed?
Aircraft rigging correct?
