Sale scam

Well, things have been kind of quite here, so I thought I would copy you all with an email scam I got regarding the listing of my Cruisair on the club website. Guess there really is no way to prevent a@$*#! from using the email listed, and it was kind of entertaining. I did call the FBI, but of course (rightfully) they couldn't be bothered with this as they happen all the time. They did give me a web site to report it - ic3.gov.
This guy was so bad that he didn't even edit his email to change it from car to plane! So here it is for your entertainment, in the chron. order I rec'vd them.

Hi Fredrick
I don't think there is anything else for you to know. We will use an escrow company to complete the transaction. Where do you live, and where would the plane be delivered?

OK, it is time to top this foolishness. I am very disappointed at how bad your scams are. Not at all original. I was hoping for something a little better. Shame on you for wasting band width and oxygen.

I sold a car on eBay some years back. These people always want to make some type of deal outside of normal channels, offer alot more money than the asking price, and want some balance wired to them in return. I wonder if they ever get anyone to bite but I'm reminded of what PT Barnum said and then I know the answer.

Larry: Thanks for letting us know these guys are still around!

Dear Larry:

Thank you for making us aware of these scams, but please do not respond to them in the future; it just keeps them in the game longer. We hope that they will eventually abandon these efforts if no one acknowledges them.

You are correct that there is nothing we can do short of removing all contact info; this would undermine the value of this service. I would like to point out at the same time, that posting personal info (full name, address, telephone number, email address, etc.) on this Forum also opens you up to additional mischief and possible ID theft. Be aware!
