"Nuther Stits covering question

NC74392

When I pulled the old cover off NC74392, the previous guy had simply slit the fabric on the fuselage to allow for the wing bolts. Shouldn't I put an oversize inspection ring around the resulting hole to keep the fabric from ripping (8 places natch'.) :?:

Whee this is FUN :D (or not).

In my 14-13-2 the carry thru spare sticks out past the Fabric. The bolts are between the Fabric and the wing rib. I put reinforcing tape around the holes for the spare so it would seal off the wing from the fusaloge. While you still have yours apart seal off any place the air can get to you from outside, including under and around the baggage compartment. When it gets around 45 degrees outside you will know that you have air comimg in. At 25 Degrees my front and rear heaters are not enough to keep you warm inside. We get a lot of air from the rear of the plane. I can only assume it is getting in at the covers on the tail.

How in the world is the duct for the rear heater vent routed :?: I can't see any way to get it from the front vents past the front spar carry-through. It looks way too narrow to go under the spar or beside it.
This is me scratching my head over this one... :?:

I have a tube I made up that connects a scat tube at the front bottom stringer then goes kind of flat and then round for the scat tube that runs to the back side of the front seat. there it blows out. The one I saw, had the scat tube flatend out some to fit thru the stringer.

So, what I need to do is flatten a chunk of duct in the middle, cut a corresponding hunk out of the wood former (the former I mean is the one the bottom of the cabin cowl screws to. The fuel lines and flap cables run through there). that the bottom stringer runs to, bolt the former back into place and trap the duct between the wood and the spar carry-through? Sounds like I'll have a piece of duct that's been flattened down to about 3/4 inches!

Only worry is weakening that bottom former :?

No. Mine came with a heat inlet just bellow the floor at the firewall on pilots side. the stringer I was talking about is the one bellow the main spare. Mine had 2 cut outs 1 on each side of the main bottom stringer. There is not a lot of room there, but I do get a lot of heat thru it. Mine has been converted to a hydrolic gear and an electric fuel pump, so I don't know how the original stuff fit in there.

Thanks Randy- that helps a whole bunch :D

Now I gotta convince Margaret (wife) to get her hands a little sticky with the fabric :!:

Life is good 8)

OK Randy- the back seat heater duct is in. Now- how is the duct routed for the FRONT seats? I can't remember if the cabin heat feeds through the firewall on the pilot or passenger side. :?

I installed two floor vents for both sides between the rudder pedals. Right now I have two 1 3/4 inch Tees connected with SCAT tubing running under the flap cables. The first Tee feeds the passenger side and connects to the rear seat vent and the other Tee. The other Tee connects to the Pilot's vent and the firewall feedthrough.

Is it legal for me to strap all this down with cable ties :?:

Randy:

Would you be willing to share your hydraulic gear installation information with me? I have the two hydraulic cylinders and the hand pump and would really like to do this particular modification.

I believe I have a line on the Cruisemaster retract struts and I can make the two spar brackets to hold the cylinders.

My AI says he'll let me do this IF I can find someone that has done this to a Cruisair. :D

I have found that all the paperwork is not there for my gear installation. The local IA is working on it along with my wing tip lights ,Cleveland brakes, Garman 300 Nav/com and electric fuel pump. I have a fist full of 337 and most of the stuff is not in the plane.

I scanned the 337 for my air and oil filter, strobes and modified pitot tube. Even when putting it in to three separate pdf files, they came out to about 8 megs each! I will ask the web master if we can post these on this web. Otherwise, I can put them on a cd and mail them to you. I suppose I could also fax them to you. Let me know how you want them. As I mentioned before, the copy of the Kidwell lg drawing is a large (E size or bigger) drawing. I think Dr Soult who had the McCauley and Sensenich STC has the whole lg set of drawings.
