Grounding during refueling

I may have already asked this question, but then my kids always said I have CRS.

Where do you ground the plane when you refuel?

I expected, and FOUND THAT I couldn't get any continuity when I connected an ohmmeter to the fuel tank and either the exhaust or the gear leg...naturally. The hoses themself are required to be grounded. Seems most people don't realize that, and it gets some folks upset when you don't ground the plane when refueling. I suppose I could just connect the ground so they would shut up...but then that goes against my nature!

After all-

Arguing with an engineer is like mud wrestling with a pig...after 30 minutes you realize that they are both enjoying it!

I just make sure the nozzle touches the tank. What do you guys do?

I've always done it the old fashioned way, Larry: I clamp the ground wire to an exhaust pipe....dunno if it does any good, but folks don't seem to mind :)

Hi Larry,

I ground to the main landing gear leg during fueling. both of my landing gear have electrical continuity to the tanks. My exhaust does not have continuity to the tank; it seems to loose it at the muffler
