Gaggle to Columbia...or peeing into the wind

I must get some thrill out of tilting at windmills, but once again, I am wondering if anyone in the NW wants to gaggle down to Columbia for the flyin. I am going to start out from Creswell, OR (near Eugene) and stop at Ashland to pick up the Hendricksons. I would like to leave Ashland early Friday Morning. Anyone want to join up and fly down together?

Hi Larry,

Yes, I will join you for the flight to Columbia. I plan to leave from Longview, WA on Thrusday evening (if the weather is good) and stay in Roseburg, OR with my in-laws that evening. I also want to leave early Friday morning for Columbia. I will call you when the time gets closer and work out the details of where we can meet.

I am now finished with the "inspection" portion of the annual and I am reassembling the aircraft. The IA will do a final check of everything this weekend and I should be good to go. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it all turns out okay.

Allen, Are you hangering your plane at Kelso or is Mike working on it for you. I was living in Longview when I learned to fly, my brother still hangers his 182 there. I am coming out in a few weeks to work on and hopefully pick up my Cruisemaster in Spanaway. I also bought my cruiseair in Silverdale. I just can't own a Bellanca unless it lives in Washington state. Maybe I will catch you out there...Greg Lucas 405-268-3925

Guys:

Please register for the event if you are coming (you are coming, aren't you???) Need your meal reservations, as we don't have the flexibility now since TCAA does not cater anymore.

I'm coming in from Arizona via a 260; this is too cool!

Can't wait,

Well, I will be driving to Columbia this year. The only thing holding me back is that three of my cylinder compressions are in the 50/80 range. Sounds like the leaks are mainly out the exhaust. I have new exhaust valves in my stock of parts and I hope the valve seats are okay. I will be pulling the cylinders off the engine this Friday. Franklin Engine Company doesn't have any stock of the parts that I MAY need (piston rings, cylinder liners, valve seats) and my main source of mechanical help (Gene Hamilton, Washougal, WA) is now premanently retired from the Franklin engine business.

Greg, Larry gave me your number last week as a possible source of help with the cylinder work - I will call you tomorrow and see what can be done. Yes, I keep my airplane at KKLS and Mike did my annual inspection ( I do the work and he inspects). If you are in the Vancouver/Longview area in the next few weeks, maybe we could meet for lunch (my treat) when you come out this way to visit .

I should have a better idea of what I need when I pull the cylinders.

Hoping for the best,

Allen (N1413B)
