Has anyone been able to procure this part in recent times? I have new mag absorbers but no good ones for the generator. Dan

I talked to Susan today, and she said that she did have the generator absorbers. She can be reached at:

I just made contact with Kevin Trumpore of Southland Mfg. Co, PO. Box 350, Hope, NJ. 07844. They make the magneto and generator absorbers to the factory drawings. At $45, they are not cheap, but new and available. Dan

I am thinking of having Southland make the conical engine mount rubbers. They can make them to the original durometer spec. Anyone interested? Dan

Yes, I would be interested in a set of engine mount absorbers for a Franklin 165 in a Cruisair 14-13-2, at a reasonable price.

These rubber cones were apparently a standard aircraft part of yesteryear. The last new set I bought a couple years ago came from a friend who used them in his Waco. He sold them to me at his cost, which was $4.50 each. He doesn't have any more. I'll try for something close to this price. Dan

Ok, I sent off a sample to get a quote. I should know by the first of the month. You do know it takes eight of these to make a set. You might want to review the recent post by Larry on changing these out. Dan

Ok, It has been a while since this topic was updated. I did receive my generator absorbers from Southland. I test fit them and they were satisfactory. They should as they were made to the factory drawings. I was able to get NOS mag absorbers from Rick at Carl Baker Co., recently for about $23/ea. No gen. absorbers available from him. Southland makes quite a few rubber parts for the Franklin. The gen.absorber was $45. The Texas replacements don't fit as well and I'm not sure if they are the correct durometer (hardness). These are not FAA/PMA. If you like to do paperwork and scratch heads with your IA, use AC 23-27. Or you can just use..........let your conscience be your guide. You don't get any paperwork with anyone else, either. We are still working on the p/n 10246 "engine mount bushing." Ten years ago, Univair was selling these for over $9 each. Two pages over, in their catalog, they had the A&C series Continental bushings for $1.60. Go figure.........Dan

Last summer, '10, I bought a MOH gasket set for a 6A4-165B3, and the two mag absorbers. Rick Hoffman's number is 541-788-0999. The Carl Baker Co. is a very part time business for him. Leave a msg if he doesn't answer. He will call back. Dan
