Cruisair Oil Cooler

Thought this topic deserved a new thread. I need one, my plane is stuck in AZ en route to TX. I contacted all the usual suspects, seems Pacific is the only vendor with an approval. They have a new aluminum cooler item 8002408 but the dimensions appear to be off (esp the mounting flange spacing but also the thickness) and this appears to be approved only for the Stinson. They have a rebuilt steel cooler but they want $1800 for it which seems high. Anyone know of a source of a new or a good used unit?

I found this in the paperwork that came with the plane. Due to a lengthy restoration process and then a reluctant owner, the plane has probably flown 20 hours since the oil cooler was installed. And the only cooler I have been able to locate is a rebuilt unit at ... guess where ... Pacific. Probably the old core that was taken out of the plane.

Seems this oil cooler has a checkered history .. I really don't want to put this (or similar make/model) back in my plane. There HAS to be a better oil cooler.

something else ref the Fedders cooler .. "reinforcing bands"
