I am looking for information as to where I can find the published and accepted limits for rust pitting on lower and vertical fuselage members in a 8GCBC Scout. This aircraft has been operated as a floatplane in a saltwater environment, and has incurred some moderate pitting especially on the lower tubes in the fuselage.
I'm in the process of sandblasting the fuselage, and I need to know how much I can reduce the OD of the tubes before they are considered unairworthy.
Does anyone have FAA or American Champion/Bellanca limits?
