Columbia 2015 - West Coast Fly-In

I've just gotta say the West Coast Fly-In Triple-Tail turnout has been pretty light the last couple of years and I hope to see more of you attend the year. The Triple-Tails make good time across the ground so coming from a distance shouldn't be an issue. Arrive Friday and there will be a plate for you at dinner.

The West Coast Fly-In is by far the biggest Bellanca gathering in the world. It's a well planned event with the Club serving meals from Friday night through Sunday morning. The area and the camp ground are gorgeous. Besides good food you'll meet a lot of Bellanca people and learn about your model of aircraft. There is always a maintenance seminar and round tables broken out for different models.

Triple-Tails get the best parking spots. As you can see in the pictures below camping right next to your bird is an option.

Any idea how many females will attend? I'd like to have my lady friend attend but would hate to have her hiding in a corner somewhere by herself.

Most attendees come with their significant others. One of the awards is Ladies' Choice.

Looking forward to meeting you there,

Even the event chair is female.

Frank is right... it's a great event, informal and friendly, and runs like a well oiled watch. The food is fine and there's plenty of it. What-ever type you fly, you will find much accumulated wisdom and a real willingness to share.

My wife felt right at home from the get-go on our first attendance.
Prepare for the heat.

By all means if you have a triple tail, make the effort.

I'm going to try camping this time. Previously we have stayed at Harmony House B and B, and we found that
to very satisfactory, and "Sam" is a real character.

First year we had Sonora enterprise drop a car for us at the airport desk, just in case the wife got bored
and wanted to go exploring. She didn't.. but it's nice to be able to share it with others. No car last year, and
others shared with us.

Best $80 dollar week-end anywhere. What you will learn at Don Torrey's presentation Sat night.. priceless. :D

I really hoped to have my red triple tail home by time the fly-in dates roll around, but it's looking more and more like it will rain in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and thunderstorm along the western 1/3 of my route until I obtain my SES or MES add-on or build a freakin' ark or barge suitable for floating my airplane from KSMX in Santa Maria, CA to KFWS in Fort Worth, TX.

IF my 14-13 is still in Santa Maria in June, I will be there and look forward to meeting all of you.

Best Wishes,

Love to have you even if it stops raining in Texas.

I gotta hand it to you guys. I saw the numbers and it looks like the Triple Tails will have a good turn out this year.

Next year we need to work on the shade... I mean high wingers. They have lower numbers than normal. Good thing if you hope to take home Best High Wing I guess.

It was great to see all the other triple tails. There were even 3 Cruisemaster 260s at the fly-in. I enjoyed meeting everyone. Of course, now I know some more things about our birds and have a couple more items on my todo list...

My lady and I had a wonderful time at the fly-in. We were given the warmest of welcomes and made to feel at home from the first "Hello - sit down and join us." Met so many of you and enjoyed the conversations and the knowledge you all imparted. Will be back next year!

Sorry a bum foot kept me from flying or driving.
Glad your first time was as great as ours was 3 years ago.

see you next year.
