All,
I am wondering what you all may be using for batteries in your Citabria's. I have a 1973 7GCBC, and with it's factory rubber battery box set-up it seems I am limited to the Gill G-35 or G-35S (Sealed Recombinant Gas) Series. This is due to the thin metal retention strap that slides over the top of the battery on the guides molded into the Gill batteries.
The problem I am having is that I have had really bad luck with Gill batteries. The one I have now was put in last annual, so it is just one year old. It will no longer hold a charge. It is the basic G-35.
I would like to put in a Concorde RG-35XC, but it doesn't look like it will fit due to not accepting the factory retention system used by the Gill as mentioned above. I've heard from others that the concorde batteries tend to hold up better than Gill. Several IAs in my area recommend only Concorde.
Any thoughts or experiences anyone can share? Am I simply limited to the Gill batteries?
Thank you,
Don
