Anyone ever mount a white/red strobe on their vert stab?

I was thinking about going this route instead of wingtip strobes. Whelen makes a nice-looking half red, half white strobe for mounting on the vertical stabilizer, but I'm not sure if there's enough mounting surface up there where the old tail light used to go (Cruisair). Anyone ever do this:?:

hey dave!
N522A came to me with a whelen strobe on top of the fin. it looks as if it was done when the a/c was last recovered as the base is much wider than the stock base and the fabric is very nicely faired into the larger strobe base (sounds more complicated than it is).
after my first night flight, i ordered a red/white lens as the white flash produced an intolerable reflection on the back side of the prop (even tho it's painted flat black). now, the red flash is perceptible, but not annoying. i only wish the lens was a little more "tear-drop" shaped, not just round (round is VERY draggy). if you need pix or further info, just let me know.
blue skies,

Still wish I could do the wingtip strobes though. I think I screwed myself over when I made the flap attachment point repair inside the wing. I had to glue in a mahogany plywood splice to the rib. A little overkill?
Someone had kludged (pronounced (kloojed) a repair together and covered it with wood filler. I was surprised the outboard flap bracket stayed in the wing!

Maybe if I could get a drill on a loooong dowel down in there...

Thanks in advance. Boy, everyone on this board is so great!
