Hey folks.

I'm John and I'm looking at a cruisair for purchase. I have a query about AD 63-17-01 which is the landing gear weldment inspection. The AD states to do a 'dye' check every 50 hours and I haven't found that it's rescinded. Does this inspection require an FPI type inspection or is a Colour Contrast inspection applicable.

Second, I had a poke around inside the wings and found two issues I'd like a comment on from current owners/maintainers. It looks like there is some separation of doublers and what not in a couple spots.

You can buy a simple dye penetrant inspection kit from aircraft sprue or commercial sources. You mearly strip offthe paint, spray on a dye, clean it off, than spray on a powdered chalk "developer" and theoretically any crack will show as a red line. You clean that off and apply a thin coat of rust resitant primer and you are good to go.

your wood condition in those photos looks dang good to me . the cracking of the 60 year old glue is normal. ..you will find that it is still holding.....or a Bellancophyles say...their termites are still holding hands.
