AC 47 Spark Plugs

I ask about these plugs because there is a very good (cheap) source for them. They are late 40's vintage and in new condition. I can't find anything on the web so I was hoping some out there had used them.

hi guys!

a quick check of the franklin type certificate (TCDS #E-238) shows that the following A/C spark plugs are approved in the 6A4-150/165 engine:

A-44
SA-43
SA-47

the "S" part of the model number indicates that this is a shielded plug. this is a virtual neccesity nowadays with radios, GPS, etc. if the plugs you are interested in are NOT shielded, i would say you're looking at some expensive fishing weights.

otherwise, if they "bomb test" ok and don't cost alot, i'd say go for it! just be aware they may not last a long time. they are, after all antiques!

as always, check with your A&P-IA to make sure they concur and are comfortable with the installation.

hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. The AC plugs I'm looking at are shielded and have three negative electrodes and come in a sealed can. I thought they might be too good to be true for the price.
If anyone is interested in obtaining some email me and I'll pass on the source. I'm not selling them myself. jtodh@cox.net
