165 air and oil filters

Well, I am finally looking at building up a 165 to replace my 150. The 150 has field approvals for both air and oil filters. Since my approvals were for my150 engine and not my airframe, I will probably have to go back to the FSDO to try for a field approval for the air and oil filter for the new engine...something I am really looking forward to (NOT!!!)

If anyone has a FAA signed field approval (block 3 of the 337) I would really appreciate getting a copy.

I could try for the oil filter based on my previous approval, but since the air filter is routed to a bigger carb, I can see some misery ahead if I try to use my existing air filter approval as a basis. I would appreciate any help anyone might offer. THANKS!

Larry,
I have an approval from SEA FSDO for an AC remote filter on my 180 Franklin in the Cruisair. Let me know if this will help.
Dan

That would be great Dan. My approval is also for a AC remote mounted oil filter PN OF-71A. I use CH48110 oil filters. Thanks! LL

I have a recent air filter field approval for my 165hp cruisair. I have the pics and paperwork for it. I used a spectre air canister with a cone type air filter. It dramatically increased static RPM over the unapproved bracket system used before.

Pat,
I would really appreciate getting a copy of your paper work. Please contact me off line at llowenkron at yahoo.com

Dan, I may need a copy of your paperwork too just to convince the FSDO that it also would work in a bigger engine. I think they would believe that it wouldn't work in a larger engine than mine.

Thanks!

Well you'd better just ship that orphaned 150 air filter set-up down here, Larry !
Operators are standing by.

The "other" larry or one of them.
