I'm a new member... rebuilding 1976 7GCBC. Looking for something similar to original (Grimes) maplight. Anyone have one in functional condition ?

Adding items to airframe ... has anyone had problems with following (paperwork or functionality) ?
1) Skylight (ACA kit)
2) Modern panel (ACA kit)
3) Single Whelan strobe on turtle deck (replacing rot.beacon)
4) Power supply for Whelan, mounting on battery cradle
5) Metal battery box and RG-25 batt (ACA kit)
6) ACK 406 Beacon
7) Airwolf remote oil filter

Thanks for any info. John Meyers Sequim, WA

I don't think the single strope on the fuselage has enough field of coverage to meet what is required, see AC 43.13-2A. I know the original beacon was there, but the rules were different in 1975.
Why install an Airwolf, when you can install the angled adaptor on the accessory housing, no added oil lines.
The ACA new battery box kit is nice and the RG-25 fits fine.
The new pannel is worth the effort, that old one sucks!
Good luck on the project.

If you are just replacing a current beacon, you don't have to meet coverage requirements for new airplane certification. I'm sure my Wingtip strobes don't quite meet them, but that is all my '70 has. If you are certifying a new airplane, then the current coverage requirements come into play.

I installed the angled oil filter adapter on my 1969 7GCBC. Very neat installation, no extra oil lines to deal with.

I also put a Casper Labs angle oil filter adapter on. Had to change one fitting in the oil cooler. Worth every penny.
