nose gear problem

I am Hans Sautter, Germany, and owner of a Bellanca Super Viking, (mod 1976), an generally interested in information exhange with your community.

Currently I have headaches with a problem with my nose gear:
The Nose gear does NOT fully extend - only at extremely low speeds and by using the emergency procedures.
The electric engine stops before the nose gear fully extends / hits the micro switch.

Myself and technical experts after much testing have not been able to figure out if this is a hydraulical or electrical or other problem.

I would greatly be pleased by any useful hint about this matter!

It may be the Over Center Spring. After several years they get tired and need to be replaced.

Sounds like your nose gear switch is open all the time and when the mains are down and locked the pump shuts off. check the switch, it has 3 post. common, normaly open and normaly closed.
