Mis-aligned Engine Mount

Does anyone have the dimensions for the engine mount to firewall bolt holes for a 14-13 with a Franklin 165? I really have to force the mount for the top 2 holes. The bottom holes are off by 3/8". I can't see any physical damage to either unit. Any reccommendations ?

Dick,
I just ran out to my 14-13 fuselage and got the following measurements.....
The top bolt holes are 29.25 inches apart.
The bottom bolt holes are 27.5 inches apart.
The distance from the bottom to the top bolt holes is 17 inches.
Hope that helps ya out....
It's not all that uncommon to see the bolt holes that far out on an engine mount unfortunately. This is usually from a somewhat hurried welding job, such as at the factory.
Good luck.

Hi John,
Thank you for your reply. I tried to order some prints from the B-C Club, but was told they had no way to economically reproduce them and they weren't available at the present time. My fuselage measurements are as follows (all measurements are hole center to hole center): Top-29 9/16", Bottom- 27 9/16", Top to bottom- 17" both sides.
My engine mount measures: Top-
29 1/4", Bottom-27 11/16', Left top to bottom-17 1/8", Right top to bottom-17 5/16".
I tried wrapping a cable around the mount to squeeze it together, but no luck. Looks like I will have to cut and weld it . Thanks again.

Hmmmmmmm....... it looks to me like maybe someone did some rather sloppy repair work to your airframe.... maybe while replacing the tubing up front after an accident??? I'd be very cautious about changing dimensions on the mount... sounds like your mount and my fuselage are a good fit... and my mount is a good fit to my fuselage... I'd be very suspicious of your fuselage. I've seen alot of "expert" repair work done and it wouldn't really suprise me that much..
