Lights for night flying question

My 14-13-2 has a rotating beacon mounted on the belly, red/ green wingtip lights, and a white rear-facing light on top of the vertical stabilizer. According to my logbook, this aircraft was certified for night flight when last flown in 1995, but I thought the rotating beacon had to be visible for at least 290 degrees from where mounted.
I am planning on using FAA/ PMA''d Aeroflash wingtip strobes to eliminate the belly beacon alltogether. My interpretation of the FAR/ AIM shows this to be a correct application, or am I just dreaming?

Dave,

Youre wingtip strobes ought to eliminate the problem and make all perfectly legal. Our 170 just got made legal with the same system. As for what you have now, I would assume you would need a strobe mounted on top these days in addition to the belly stobe, but I'm not too sure, but the Aeroflash system will take care of all of your concerns.

I just got back from putting 22 hours on my 14-13-2, went to texas and back with it. Average start to stop was 143mph on 7.43gph at 9500-10500, and consumed a quart of oil every 10 hours. Now I have 180 hours on my 165 overhaul and have loved every minute of it.

Nope, I won't be able to make it this year. Seems like everyone else planned my July for me, weddings, family reunions, aniversaries, you know, all the lady stuff. I get to fly to all of it, so that's good. Only airplane stuff I get for july is a fly in here at the ranch on the 12th, which ought to be fun. It would be nice to make it out there one of these days, but seems like something else is always in the way.

I'll let you know what I dig up in my papers with regards to tolerances etc when I get things slowed down towards the weekend.

Have a good one.

Did your 14-13-2 come with a landing light in the wing? Mine didn't. I was wondering if anyone has put a landing light in the leading edge on a 14-13-2. I know the aleron cables run behind the leading edge.
Any info would be great.

Russ.

My 14-13-2 came with a landing light in the leading edge of the wing. If you look on MyPlaneOnline.com you will see the light on the left wing, past the pully for the left aleron.

Rotating beacon--I would like to buy your beacon when your done with it,I've been looking for an old original to put on my Cruisemaster
