Help!
1.
I have a 260, they have the IO-470 engine and I have it in many many pieces. It started as an inspection because of a prop. strike and grew and grew. Now I'm looking at the exhaust system and how it fits onto the jugs. All the jugs show leaks at the connection between the exhaust port and the header pipe. I see ads for exhaust gaskets and "blow proof" exhaust gaskets. I have a blow proof type on my C-85 and like them. The ones I got with the gasket kit are a metal gasket caged in a ring.
I sure would like to hear some experience in getting a good seal that won't fail and erode the port on the jugs.
2.
The exhaust system needs some of the clamps that connect the headers to the collector. It is p.n. 229-004. Shown on Fig. 44 as #7.
What are my sources and which one is likely to have a reasonable price? I need 5 sets.
3. Is the factory functioning. I don't see an advertisement in the newsletter or in Trade-a-Plane. If there is a phone for them, I'd like to have it.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
