I want more electricity...and there's a mistake in the TC

There may be a mistake in the Cruisair TC (Aircraft Spec). Could it be that the FAA made a mistake!???

Next time you are under the cowl, take a look at your generator. If it is the 25 amp, it is the Delco 1101877. Then check the TC. It shows it to be the 1101887 25 amp. However, if you go into Delco specs, you will see that the 1101887 is a 35 amp generator. It is quite a different generator in that it has a different armature, field coil and drive end. I 'm not sure that a 1101887 will even clear the transverse engine mount (even after modifying it to bolt on to our engines.)

I have been struggling with how to get more electricity generated. I don't think you can get the Stan Bedford STC'd Motorola generator anymore. I imagine one could take a 35 amp armature and machine the shaft end to fit, but I don't know about modifying the field coil. Anyone have any ideas?

You can still get the newest Bedford alternator from Bruce Kown, An we do have approved 337's on Cruiseairs to back it up.....Greg
I had a 15 amp generator on my cruiseair last...

Greg,
Did you have to modify the engine mount? I talked to Bruce, and it sounded like the model 101 was too big in diameter. He said the new 201 model may fit.
The 101 had the STC, and Bruce said that Stan Bedford was not going to "go through that again" for the 201. Something about telling the FAA to "Go forth, be fruitful and multiply".

Larry:

I know one owner at least who simply had the armature rewound to get more amps. This was in a 14-19 though, but he got it from the normal 35 for that generator to 50. No log entry of course :)
