This was sent to us (via John Sulley - Chairman of the WCFI Committee) by Janet Hitt. She spoke to us at Columbia about her role as G.M.'s pilot in 1950.
The Bellanca made it to Honolulu and was reassembled in time for the ceremony of Hawaiian Airlines 80th anniversary. Type in Hawaiian Bellanca in your search and you will get all the "PR" stuff you can stand. Other than that, this part of the forum is stagnant! Dan
I happenned to run into a mechanic that worked on the project. He mentioned his best guess on the future of the plane was that it would eventually be offerred for sale. He said the airline has a history of doing stuff like that. Just a rumor for now.
Ok, Two months without a post.................I've had two reports from friends still in the airline game that the Bellanca has been seen in the sky above Honolulu. The Miss Veedol is in Japan in a museum until next autumn's festivities where it will fly for all the locals to see. I hope to go along with Dan Stewart in getting the airplane ready to fly and maybe get some stick time, myself. Dan
Got a nice note from Robert Taylor saying he'd like to have a Bellanca theme at Blakeburg. However, he'd like commitment for some pre-WWII Bellancas to go along with the low-wing planes. Any contacts anyone?
Bob has been "buggin'" me for years to get my CH done before he passes. When I should be working on it, I end up in SE Asia! With the Hawaiian bird and the Miss Veedol overseas, I think there are but two flyable pre-war high wings in the States. The Aircruiser at Tillamook, Oregon, which hasn't flown in some time and George Jenkin's CH -400. There are only about 5-6 flyable prewar low wings available. Dan
There is a flyable pre war 14 12 F3 in Kingman Arizona. I saw it at the First Columbia Flyin , and I looked it up at Kingman 2 or 3 years ago. I dont recall the owners name . ___Grant.
What ever became of the High Wing pre war that was owned by Fred Pattersons son? I think the son is or was an airline pilot. I learned of it years ago when I was researching Fred Pattersons Hot Rodded Cruisair. (N44FP). ____Grant.
The son, Fred Patterson, also, owns this airplane and it is under restoration at Dan Stewart's in Cashmere, WA. I have known Fred for about 20 years. Dan
