Fabric Repair

I have a very small tear (< 1/4") in the fabric of my bellanca Super Viking. Can anyone tell me how to repair it? Can I paint it with some dope or what?
 
A can of Polytack and a dollar patch will do the job. Get the Polyfiber manual for 10 bucks and it will walk you through the steps. Not rocket science but anybody can fix a small tear with the manual. Lynn the crate :D
 
I thought the factory used Ceconite with a Nitrate dope base and Butyrate dope for the outer layers. I know Butyrate dope will adhere to the Nitrate, but not the other way around, so the question must be raised, Is Polytak compatible with the Butyrate layer (if that is what was used on this plane)?
