Air Filter Options

Happy Holidays and greetings from west Michigan!

I'm a new member and a new owner of a 1973 Super Viking...which went directly from the hangar - after not flying for 3-years, to the A&P on the field for a very thorough annual!
One of the many parts I'm tracking down is a simple air filter for the Lycoming. The good folks at Alexandria will sell me one for a pile of money ($190?!), my question to you guys is do you know of a suitable replacement element to use?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bill

WD, call Aircraft Spruce for your filter. They list for less than 100 bucks for -30 and -30A. You, I assume have a -31 and if you have the p/n for the filter they can give you the best price. 877-477-7823 if you are new to this madness request their catalog as it is the Bible of parts for planes. Lynn the crate :?

I would recommend the Challenger air filter which is a K@N air filter media, and you will see an increase of MP at altitude.
