1978 Decathlon Heater

I cant stop the heat from seeping thru the heater valve on the firewall. It has a 3 inch scatt duct running from the exhaust shroud to the valve on the firewall. The only way I have found to stop the heat is to remove the scat ducting. The butterfly valve is closing completely. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

If it is the same as on my 65 7ECA, I don't think there is much that can be done other than tape up the hole or as you said, disconnect the tube.

I recently had my heat air valve out and working on it. It is pretty basic and not tight at all.

There is actually a factory EO that lets you disconnect the heater box on the engine side and tie it off to deflect down out the bottom of the cowl. Its been like 12-15 years since we did that one; I dont remember details. Out in the field, thats nothing more than a log book entry.
