    Rear Seat Heater Instalation

A buddy of mine just finished installing a rear seat heater in his pre-1970 Citabria. All parts (except for the "T" duct") were purchased from American Champion or Aircraft Spruce. Parts total $243. Photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13896784@N00/5415843205/in/set-72157625947873824/ Citabria...

    Brake cylinder rebuild

Does anyone know what "O" rings I need to order to rebuild the toe-brake master cylinders on a 7GCBC? Also, what "O" rings are neede for the wheel cylinders? I can pull them and measure but it would be nice to have the replacement parts ahead of time. Thanks!

    Oleo gear idiosyncrasies

I just test flew my friend's 1965 7ECA after restoration over a number of years. The plane flies great but the oleo gear seems strange to me (my '69 7GCBC has spring gear). During the roll-out after landing one oleo compresses part way and then a few seconds the other side does, then the first...

Rudder Horn Springs Wearing a Groove

The spring attach links on my rudder horn are wearing a groove into the casting. A buddy at the airport mentioned that he heard there was a legal fix for this but didn't know the details. Does anyone know if such a fix exists and how to go about it?

    PIC from rear seat?

A buddy of mine with a Citabria was overdue for his BFR and wanted me to fly back seat for him while he brushed up before his flight with a CFI the next day (I fly a Citabria also). We flew around for about and hour and took turns shooting touch-n-goes. Afterwards he questioned whether I could...

    Mystery Bendix filter question

I have a 1969 7GCBC Citabria. During my last annual my IA noticed that one of my Bendix magneto filters had a cracked case. I’ve looked in Aircraft Spruce and Chief Aircraft catalogs but have yet to find one with the little bayonet connector at one end and a shielded “Pâ€

12 Inch N-Numbers for US customs

US Customs requires aircraft entering the US to have 12 inch tall N-numbers. My plane only has three inch numbers so I printed up 12 inch numbers and laminated them to meet this requirement. I have my girlfriend unroll them as we cross the border and slide them into both of the back windows...

    Slow Cranking During Start-up

Just wondering if everyone's Citab is slow to crank on the first flight of the day. I have a '69 7GCBC. I though it was time for a new battery but even with the new one it's still less than enthusiastic. I have nice clean cables, with fine wire to carry the juice. A buddy has a similar vintage...

    Strobes effecting Ammeter?

Strobes effecting Ammeter? How's this for a puzzle? I'm flying back with my buddy in his '99 7GCBC Citabria from Baja. We are in level cruise flight, turning about 2,400rpm. He has his strobes turned on, it's daylight but he's running them for safety. He mentions to me that he thinks it's...

reasons for starting on the left magneto

Hey guys, I thought I'd pass on another useful tid-bit I've always taken for granted: My buddy who just bought a pretty new Citabria went for a ride with me in my '69 Citab. He noticed that I always start my engine on the left magneto and then turn on the right after the engine is running. I've...

    Fuel storage?

A buddy of mine wants to know how long he could store av-gas at his place in a barrel down in Baja Mexico as a safety in case fuel is unavailable sometime. Any idea if there is a limit as to how long it can be stored if sealed well? I know there is a stabilizer they sell from automotive, boat, &...

    Door storage for photo work

Just thought I'd pass on a recent discovery. We wanted to do some photo work last weekend from my 1969 7GCBC so we were going to fly with the door off. The problem was I wanted the door back on the plane after we got to our destination airport. Turns out it fits along side the passenger seat if...

Intermittent overvoltage problem resolved after years

I just thought I'd pass this on since it was a mystery/problem that has only just now been resolved: I have a 69 GCBC Citabria that started popping the over voltage relay intermittently about a year and a half ago. I could re-set it in flight by cycling the master but it was still aggrivating...

    Scott 3200 wheel bearings

Does anyone know what size wheel bearings the Scott 3200 tailwheel takes and where to get them? I think mine need replacing.
