Did everyone get their "Old Planes Safety" FAA boo

I don't know why, but I'm getting the feeling that the FAA would rather we didn't fly antique/ classic aircraft. Call me paranoid I guess... :?

    Aero Flash Strobes for Christmas

Gee- Margaret (wife) sure is swell. She's getting me some Aero Flash wingtip strobes for my 14-13-2 for Christmas. I musta' been real good this year! One thing though, is it going to be a pain in the buttocks to get a 337 on the installation? Anyone else go through this? :?:

    100 Wright Anniversary Stamp Cancellations

I have an idea for the whole club. If we exchanged snail mail addresses, bought some Wright Flyer stamps and cards, and mailed them out to each other on December 17, 2003, we'd have a pretty neat keepsake. Any takers out there :?: Dangerous Dave

Help needed for fuel tank reinstallation

When I pulled my fuel tanks all I found holding them were bits of rubber and a cut up yardstick. Is this SOP? I sure could use some advice about wedging these suckers back into place... Dangerous Dave

    Merritt Marquiss- Please contact me!

I sure could use a copy of your 337 for your Cleveland Brake installation on your Cruisair. My AI is a little nervous because the STC calls out the 14-19 instead of the 14-13. I also could use a pair of axle spacers- I have everything but! Thanks heaps! Dangerous Dave

    IO-360 conversion

Just how hard IS it to get a one-time STC for a Lycoming IO-360 conversion? I'm concerned about Franklin parts availability a little while down the road plus looking for a little more Oooomph :D Wasn't this the engine Ozzie Levy used in his Cruisair? Would a Comanche cowl fit? I saw a Comanche...

    Covering Ailerons- Which end?

When covering the ailerons do I wrap around the leading edge so the seams overlap at the trailing edge or wrap around the trailing edge so the seams overlap around the leading edge? Seems to me the leading edge will give you a nicer finish, but clearances in the wing's aileron cutout may...

    Lights for night flying question

My 14-13-2 has a rotating beacon mounted on the belly, red/ green wingtip lights, and a white rear-facing light on top of the vertical stabilizer. According to my logbook, this aircraft was certified for night flight when last flown in 1995, but I thought the rotating beacon had to be visible...

A Manual for rebuilding a Cruisair?

Is there a service manual that covers major reconstruction on the 14-13-2 :?: So far I'm rebuilding using my pictures and drawings I made when disassembling plus the Club Operator's Manual and Parts Manual that has exploded views of sub-assemblies. What I'd like to have is a manual that has...

    Air Dams for wheel wells.

IS there a good reason why I can't do a little research and develop small air dams in front and to the sides of my wheel wells? Seems to me this is a simple solution to drag created by these huge holes in the wings.

Cessna wheel farings for speed mod?

I've heard one can buy some aftermarket Cessna 152 wheel farings, cut them in half (top from bottom), and make a nice pair of farings for the retracted Cruisair wheels. Anyone try this? Harvey Leydecker made his own. They're a neat clamshell affair that extends out to the TE of the flaps...

OK- ailerons are now even with the wing bottom BUT

NOW the ailerons rub on the elliptical chunks of wood that support the top wing plywood sheeting. Y'know, the thingies that are recessed in the aileron cutout. :? Can I sand the "chunks" down a little or should I add a shim to the aileron hinges? :?:

    Painting the Cruisair- after assembly???

OK folks- it's time to start painting using Poly Fiber Aerothane. Scenario: Everything is covered with Stits. :D Problem: How do you fabric-tape the wing-to-fuselage joints AFTER you paint the major assemblies with Aerothane? :?: You may or may not know Aerothane doesn't wipe away with...
