    Poly-Fibre Fuselage envelopes

OK- I finally take the fuselage envelope out of the box and, lo and behold, it's a COMPLETE  envelope- not just the top and sides as I had assumed :!: This means one of two things- either I have to strip the bottom fabric off the fuselage that took 6 band-aids and seven hours to do, or...

Anyone have a source for heater duct or Chevron O-rings?

I need two "T"s or "Y"s, and a chunk of tubing about 6 inches long. All of this needs to be 1-3/4" diameter thin wall aluminum. Aircraft Spruce has the tubing, but no Ts or Ys in that diameter. Secondly, I need some new wiper rings/ seals for the main gear and tailwheel. My local hardware...

    "Nuther Stits covering question

When I pulled the old cover off NC74392, the previous guy had simply slit the fabric on the fuselage to allow for the wing bolts. Shouldn't I put an oversize inspection ring around the resulting hole to keep the fabric from ripping (8 places natch'.) :?: Whee this is FUN :D (or not).

    Helicopter engines

Can a Franklin 6V-335 (I think it's a 6V) chopper engine be converted for use on a fixed wing aircraft? I've heard they have higher compression than an A/C engine for one thing. Anything else? What about the FAA :?:

I'm stuck- I need some advice

I'm at the point of installing the interior and covering everything, I feel overwhelmed and have stopped working on my Cruisair altogether. :? How in the world does one get over the hump to start the restoration process up again :?: :| One problem is the local upholstery shop has had my...

Anyone ever run a 76" Aeromatic?

I have a chance to buy a 76" F200 hub Aeromatic. I was wondering if anyone's ever heard of installing this size prop and if so, are there issues like ground clearance and stressing the 150 hp engine? Any news from Tarver Propeller? I NEED BLADES :!:

Just got the coolest thing- a pneumatic tailwheel!

Harvey Leydecker is the greatest. He had a Goodyear tire that fits the hub Robert Szego sold me. Harvey says this will make my little Cruisair much more comfortable on the ground and lessen the chance of a busted tailwheel fork if it drops in a hole  I LOVE it when stuff works like...

    Covering the fuselage- two irons?

Looking at the section of fabric that rises up to cover the vertical stabilizer, and not wanting to get the durn thing lopsided, I was idly wondering- If I buy a second iron, calibrate it, and get Margaret to exactly mirror my ironing, I wonder if it'll keep the fabric more in line than ironing...

2-inch venturi in the Cruisair nose?

Looking through my Cruisair parts manual, I saw there used to be a 2-inch venturi in the cowl nose bowl. I wonder if I could run my turn n bank coordinator off that? Maybe the reason it's not there anymore is it was less than successful... I'd like to reduce down to one Big venturi and the...

Vacuum Pump on a 150 Franklin?

Can you add a vacuum pump to a 6A-150-B3? I've heard there's an adapter drive although quite rare. One other thing- my crank has a hole in the end like a crank for a plane with a variable pitch prop. Has anyone ever heard of anyone running an oil prop on a 150 Franklin? Curious to say the least...

    Need Cruisemaster retract struts!

I wanna' convert my bicycle chain retracts in NC74392 to a hydraulic hand pump. I'm afraid all that cranking up and down of the gear is going to make me develop my right arm more than my left

OT but...Dad's in the Hospital again

My restoration partner (Chuck Wilkie) is just not doing well. His lung tumor is about the size of a handball nowand pressing on his heart's vena cava. It's inoperaple. Right after he resumed Chemotherapy, he caught a bad lung infection from someone (Mom I think) and was so short of breath even...

Mixed feelings- Do I want my Cruisair to be valuable?

The Cruisar Sr. is an excellent aircraft. By rights, one should sell for about $80,000 instead of about $30K considering the performance you get, looks, and economy of operation. HOWEVER- every time I get my yearly Ad Velorum tax form and I can honestly write down the obscenely low price I paid...

How do I lace up the front seat sling?

I installed a new front seat sling in NC74392. The tubing that the retract handle and gear attaches to is in the way of wrapping the sling around the front. Am I doing this wrong? Also, the brass grommets alignment seems peculiar. One row along the top of the center section tubing and one along...

Are Whelan Strobes 2X better $$$ than Aeroflash?

Here's the deal- I have to run new lighting wire in my wings. I might as well install the wingtip strobes while I'm at it. Why are Whelan Strobes about $700 for the kit and Aeroflash about $300 :?: To say this will be a hard task is an understatement. I dare say unless you're Plywood Wonder...

Cruisair / Cruisemaster Forum people voted "Most Talkat

Looking at all the other forums, either we talk the most or we have the most problems (misery loves company). I'd like to think we're just friendly! My thanks to Robert and everyone here who participates- this is GREAT :!:

    Any backing on interior panels?

My vinyl looks like it's just stretched between wood formers and stapled. Is this typical? Sure looks easy enough and should look OK. Seats are being sewed up as I type! Yippee! :D

Anyone ever mount a white/red strobe on their vert stab?

I was thinking about going this route instead of wingtip strobes. Whelen makes a nice-looking half red, half white strobe for mounting on the vertical stabilizer, but I'm not sure if there's enough mounting surface up there where the old tail light used to go (Cruisair). Anyone ever do this:?:
