    Sale scam

Well, things have been kind of quite here, so I thought I would copy you all with an email scam I got regarding the listing of my Cruisair on the club website. Guess there really is no way to prevent a@$*#! from using the email listed, and it was kind of entertaining. I did call the FBI, but...

    replacing rubber engine mount bushings

Looks like its time to replace the rubber bushings on my engine mount. How do you lift the engine? I noticed some threaded holes in the top by each cylinder...are those for inserting eye bolts to lift it. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! Larry

    MORE on Sensenich Propellers

Grant sent me a copy of a letter from the Civil Aeronautics Administration (Yes the CAA!) dated Aug 11, 1954, which states (with conditions) that "A fixed pitch metal propeller may be substituted for fixed pitch wood propeller on aircraft that have been previously approved with fixed pitch wood...

    Air box for Cruisairs

Grant Jordan asked me to upload pictures of airbox/filters for Franklin 150 and 165. The pic of the box on the engine is for a 165, the round one is for a 150. Questions to Grant. There are 7 other pictures, so if you want more, let me know and I will email them to you. Grant's computer is...

    I just don't get it!

Can somebody explain to me why we or more accurately, our planes are the great unknown in aviation? I doubt that there 300 flying triple tails flying. That is enough to be noticed, and yet still a rarity, yet how much recognition do we get at any flyin? How many were at OSH recently? Do you...

    Liquid Penetrants for stuck parts

Dan Shultz made a good recommendation on the thread about sticky pulleys. I saw the following from another web site and thought it would be of interest to all: Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts. Significant results! They arranged...

How fast (really, not book) is your 14-19-2?

I have long wondered how much faster the Cruisemasters are than the Cruisairs. I flight plan at 110 knots (128 mph) for my Cruisair, and my TAS is 132mph + or - 2 mph at 2500 rpm at altitude. My x cty fuel burn is 8.5 gph. I know that the book figures (or popular lore!?) are a lot higher...

    Another McCauley STC for 6A4-150

Allen Harstine has obtained a one time STC that may be transferable for a McCauley 1A170 prop on a 14-13-3 with a Franklin 150. It should be very useful in obtaining approval for other individuals. I would hope that even the FAA could see the logic that if it's ok for a -3, it should work on...

This is hard for me to do, but...

it's time I put my Bellanca on the market. Seems like I got into a 90/90 RV 6 (90% done, 90% to go)and selling my Cruisair is how I plan to afford being able to put an engine/prop in it. My youngest son tells me that I would have had less emotional trauma selling him rather than the...

    How many are flying

I wonder if anyone knows how many Bellanca's (by type) are flying? The FAA registry does not really say how many of them are actually flying. Bob, does the club have any record of that?

    Franklin Manual with power curves

I recently downloaded a Franklin manual that I had never seen before. It was on the Stinson Yahoo group. It is different from the "Franklin Engine Service Instructions for the Model 6A4-150-B3, B31 & 6A4-165-B3". What is really interesting is that it has engine curves!!! :D :D . I would be...
