I have a 1980 BSV with a continental 520 and it has a champion spin-on filter CH48108-1 , will i need to use dow corning DC-4 on the rubber gasket or not ?

Hello I am a new member and just bought a 1730-a 1980 I am interested in a garmin GDL 82 with ADS_b in/out has anyone installed this ? The local avionics guys are shying away from this .
