I've had several pilots tell me the MT-9 prop can not be flown in the rain. When I search for information on this to include any limitations or information on their website. As a matter of fact they mention that their props can be outfitted with de-ice boots. Anyone have clarification on this?
I have a student who is interested in purchasing an 8KCAB and we are trying to find the best way of seating her- she is 5'2". We would like to avoid pedal extensions; she has tried platform sneakers but did not like the feel of the rudders. We have tried:
1. Seat chute, normal back cushion...
I just thought of something. The Va is changed for the increase in gross weight in high gross weight AFM supplement, but nothing about the other airspeeds- Vx, Vy, etc. No appreciable change?
My oil temperature gauge died a few weeks ago so I had it replaced. The new one will not work at all for about 20 minutes, then works fine for the rest of the flight and subsequent flights while the engine is warm. No other anomolies or problems in the airplane. Any ideas?
Anyone install one? Does the factory have them? Any other places that might have them? Any problems? Looking at another summer sitting in the back of my Super D with dread.
My airplane has a 5 point Hooker harness with the normal metal latch. Recently I had a student apply aft stick in such a manner that it unlatched the belt. A little disconcerting to say the least. I am interested in installing a back up lap belt. Any ideas? Since it is a secondary restraint...
Sorry if this has been posted- but I still can't access the search function of the website.
I already have a 5 point harness attached to the seat. I wanted to add a lap belt attached to the airplane itselft. Any STCed/easy to install ones out there?
Is the 10 hour battery inspection if conducting aerobatics considered a pre-flight item done by the pilot every 10 hours, or an item that must be inspected by a mechanic and signed off in the aircraft log?
I've been thinking about adding this to the airplane to make it easier to change (8KCAB, AEIO-360). Looks like there are two STCs, Airwolf and Aviation Development Corporation. What do you know... both cost $475. Anyone have thoughts on them one way or the other?
I just read an article where the pilot talked about running into mechanical problems with doing snap rolls in Decathlons and Super Decathlons- specifically problems with the wings and fuel tanks. I have also had pilots tell me it's not a big deal as long as your airspeed is low. Any thoughts...
While performing rolls in my Super D I have experienced some "flutter" vibration from about the 70 degree to about the 120 degree position. It occurs while rolling left and right. It occurs on both sides, 70-120, then 250-300. I thought nothing of it until I was flying with an aerobatic...
