Failure in a Scout wheel axle lead to discovery of cracks in the axle radius due to pit corrosion. Further investigation uncovered the axles had never been heat sealed by Bellanca. Recommendation that all 8GCBC Scout, 8KCAB Decathalon and 7 series Citabria be inspected for similar cracks. |
