Our East Coast Fly-In 2001
...took place Friday - Sunday, October 12-14, 2001 at the
Pottstown Municipal Airport,
home of
Witmer's Aircraft Service
and
TLC Aviation,
both avid supporters of the Club.
As you know,
Tom Witmer
has the finest Bellanca shop in the East, maintaining as many as a dozen
airplanes at any given time. He has been our host for these East Coast events
for many years. The new FBO is TLC Aviation, owned by member
Mark Santangelo
and provides fuel, flight training, war stories; he promises to have his
Citabria restored and flying by next year's event.
Tony Markl
's L-16A (LH-271 on the end) is one of two gorgeous Aeroncas present; the other
[in top picture] is
Joe Preston
and
Dick Siano
's "Crayola Champ". A better picture is further down this page.

Rick Hadden

Witmer awards the winner's plaque.

and his 1958 Cruisemaster receive the Best Classic Aircraft award from Tom
Witmer.
George & Cindy Rousseau
won the Best High-Wing for their Decathlon, but left before picture-taking
time. Seen here is runner-up
Tom Beamer
's 2000 7GCAA.
Terry Sheridan
flew his Super Viking from Loudon, TN, winning the Furthest Flown to Fly-In
plaque.. Look what's right next to it!

Paul Workman
(right) shows off some of his fine leather upholstery work, among the displays
he bought all the way from Ohio. He restores aircraft (and automobiles),
currently working on his 1959 '260'.
Terry Durant
(who seems to show up to work at most of our Club events) in front of Witmer
Aircraft Service's big new hangar, cleared out to make room for this event by
Tom and his staff. Thank you, Tom!
Young
Hayden Vella
from Palgrave, Ontario is flying his
composite aircraft
, with his brother Keenan out of sight. His father
Joe
is restoring their '260' and they had to drive down this year.
Everitt duPont
flew in with his son
Eli
in their restored, Lycoming-powered Cruisair - and found a place next to
another great classic. See their story in the October issue of B-C Contact!
Crayola Champ
Note auxiliary wheels that permit taxiing on the
snow free taxiway, then crank up via an over-center linkage to operate on the skis.

Roger Lehnert on Randolph Products and Paints in General
Rick Hadden on Composit Propellers
Our thanks to these fine speakers - and many thanks to all who attended.
If you have other (and hopefully better) pictures of the Fly-In, please send
them to the Club for inclusion on this page.
See you next year, same time, same place.
